The Orquesta Ciudad de Granada (OCG) appointed Josep Pons as its Honorary Conductor, recognising the long-standing relationship between the Catalan conductor and the orchestra, as well as his significant contribution to the ensemble’s artistic development over more than two decades of collaboration.
Josep Pons’s association with the OCG dates back to the orchestra’s early years and has resulted in numerous concerts, recordings and artistic projects. Throughout this period, he explored a broad repertoire ranging from the Classical and Romantic traditions to twentieth- and twenty-first-century music, helping to shape the orchestra’s artistic identity and strengthen its reputation both nationally and internationally.
The title of Honorary Conductor is one of the highest distinctions an orchestra can bestow upon a conductor whose artistic contribution has left a lasting mark on the ensemble’s history. Through this appointment, the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada acknowledged a relationship built on artistic trust, musical excellence and a shared commitment to the orchestra’s cultural mission.
The distinction also reflected Josep Pons’s growing international career with many of Europe’s leading orchestras and opera houses, reaffirming his commitment to artistic excellence and long-term musical projects.
