The Liceu opens its 2025-26 season with The Cunning Little Vixen

The Gran Teatre del Liceu opens its 2025-2026 season with a production of The Cunning Little Vixen by Leoš Janáček, under the musical direction of Maestro Josep Pons.

The staging, created by Barrie Kosky (restaged by Andreas Weirich), explores the cycle of life and nature, presented without intermission in a concise 90-minute version.

For Josep Pons, conducting this work is “a fascinating adventure,” noting that “Janáček was a genius who fused music with the essence of nature.”

With this opening, the Liceu launches a season that combines artistic depth, accessibility, and a strong connection with the audience, marking the final stage of Pons’s tenure as principal conductor.
