First performed in <strong>1725<\/strong> at London\u2019s King\u2019s Theatre, the opera is one of the major works from Handel\u2019s British period and a landmark of the Baroque repertoire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The production, directed by <strong>Claus Guth<\/strong>, arrived at the Liceu as a co-production with the <strong>Teatro Real<\/strong>, the <strong>Op\u00e9ra de Lyon<\/strong> and <strong>Oper Frankfurt<\/strong>. Guth offered a contemporary psychological reading of the work, focusing on family, power and conjugal loyalty, with a visually striking staging. The sets and costumes by <strong>Christian Schmidt<\/strong>, lighting by <strong>Joachim Klein<\/strong> and video design by <strong>Andi A. M\u00fcller<\/strong> transformed the stage into a fragmented symbolic house, also seen through the eyes of the young Flavio.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The cast was led by <strong>Lisette Oropesa<\/strong> as <strong>Rodelinda<\/strong> and <strong>Bejun Mehta<\/strong> as <strong>Bertarido<\/strong>, alongside <strong>Joel Prieto<\/strong> (Grimoaldo), <strong>Sasha Cooke<\/strong> (Eduige), <strong>Gerald Thompson<\/strong> (Unulfo), <strong>Gianluca Margheri<\/strong> (Garibaldo) and <strong>Fabi\u00e1n Augusto G\u00f3mez<\/strong> as Flavio.
