Maestro Pons conducted the<em> Second Symphony &quot;Resurrection&quot;<\/em> by Mahler, the Viennese genius who, after Beethoven, returned the supremacy to the symphony.<\/p>\n<p>The Gran Teatre del Liceu&#39;s orchestra and its choir, conducted by Conxita Garcia, were complemented by the singers of the Orfe&oacute; Catal&agrave;, conducted by Simon Halsey. In addition, the part of mezzosorpano was performed by Karen Cargill and the one of soprano by Chen Reiss.<\/p>\n<p>Josep Pons made an allegorical reading of the score, emphasizing &quot;the rebirth of the Liceu of the ashes&quot;, while showing stable bodies in good shape and with great capacity for subtleties. The sound balance reigned for 80 minutes, without excess or excess.
