The programme combined major operatic productions, symphonic concerts, new creations and educational initiatives. It also marked the penultimate season of <strong>Josep Pons<\/strong> as Music Director, a position he had held since <strong>2012<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">During the season, Josep Pons conducted four of the theatre&#8217;s major productions. The programme opened with <strong>Dmitri Shostakovich&#8217;s <\/strong><em><strong>Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk<\/strong><\/em>, followed by <strong>Richard Wagner&#8217;s <\/strong><em><strong>Lohengrin<\/strong><\/em> and <strong>Anton\u00edn Dvo\u0159\u00e1k&#8217;s <\/strong><em><strong>Rusalka<\/strong><\/em>, which concluded the operatic season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">His symphonic appearances included the continuation of the <strong>Mahler Universe<\/strong> cycle with <strong>Mahler&#8217;s Symphony No. 6<\/strong>, the programme <strong>A Night in Paris<\/strong> featuring music by <strong>Claude Debussy<\/strong> and <strong>Maurice Ravel<\/strong> with pianist <strong>Javier Perianes<\/strong>, and a vocal gala with <strong>Asmik Grigorian<\/strong> and <strong>Matthias Goerne<\/strong> devoted to <strong>Wagner<\/strong> and <strong>Richard Strauss<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The season also featured productions of <strong>La forza del destino<\/strong>, <strong>La traviata<\/strong>, <strong>Le nozze di Figaro<\/strong>, <strong>Akhnaten<\/strong>, <strong>La gata perduda<\/strong>, together with dance, recitals and contemporary creations, reaffirming the Liceu&#8217;s commitment to artistic excellence and stylistic diversity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">After more than a decade under Josep Pons&#8217;s musical leadership, the <strong>Gran Teatre del Liceu Symphony Orchestra<\/strong> and <strong>Chorus<\/strong> had reached a remarkable level of artistic maturity, combining an expanded repertoire, a distinctive orchestral identity and increasing international recognition.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>2024\/25 season<\/strong> therefore represented another important milestone in the long-term artistic project developed at the Gran Teatre del Liceu over the previous decade.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 15 February 2024, the Gran Teatre del Liceu unveiled its 2024\/25 season, presented under the motto &#8220;Pursuing a Dream&#8221;.
