A German Requiem with the Spanish National Orchestra and Chorus

On 23, 24 and 25 January 2026, Josep Pons conducted the Orquesta y Coro Nacionales de España at Madrid’s Auditorio Nacional de Música, renewing his collaboration with the ensemble of which he is Honorary Conductor.

The programme was devoted to Johannes Brahms’s A German Requiem, one of the landmark works of the European choral-symphonic repertoire. Departing from the traditional liturgical requiem, Brahms’s score offers a profound message of consolation and hope through a selection of biblical texts chosen by the composer himself.

The performances featured soprano Katharina Konradi and baritone José Antonio López and were dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Adamuz railway accident.
