On 7 and 8 February 2026, Josep Pons returns to the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse for a programme devoted to Francis Poulenc, one of the most distinctive voices of twentieth-century French music. The concerts take place at the Halle aux Grains and feature two of the composer’s major sacred works: the Gloria and the Stabat Mater.
Written during the 1950s, these two scores represent a defining period in Poulenc’s career, combining profound spirituality with a musical language of elegance, clarity and expressive warmth. Both works alternate moments of solemnity with passages of luminous lyricism and radiant orchestral colour.
The performances bring together the Chœur du Capitole, a soprano soloist and the orchestra in two of the finest examples of twentieth-century French choral music.
French repertoire has long occupied an important place in Josep Pons’s artistic career. Throughout the years he has devoted particular attention to composers such as Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Francis Poulenc, Henri Dutilleux and Olivier Messiaen, seeking transparency of texture, orchestral colour and a natural balance between voices and instruments.
His return to Toulouse also renews a longstanding artistic relationship with one of France’s leading orchestras and confirms his regular presence at major European concert halls.
