Opening a second season at the helm of the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie

On 6 September, Josep Pons opened the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie’s 2026/27 season at the Congresshalle in Saarbrücken, marking the beginning of his second season as the orchestra’s Chief Conductor and Artistic Director.

Entitled Olymp!, the programme brought together Claude Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune and Maurice Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major and Suites Nos. 1 and 2 from Daphnis et Chloé, with Javier Perianes as soloist.

The concert also launched «Die Säulen Europas» (The Pillars of Europe), one of the central programming strands of the new season and part of the continuing Visions of Europe artistic project developed by Pons with the DRP.

The concert was broadcast live on SR kultur and is available to listen to on demand.
