The “la Caixa” Foundation presented Ravel’s Boléro. The Colours of Music, a new immersive audiovisual experience directed by Igor Cortadellas and featuring Josep Pons conducting the Gran Teatre del Liceu Symphony Orchestra. Premiered in 2023 at CaixaForum Barcelona and also available on CaixaForum+, the project invites audiences to step inside the orchestra through a 360-degree virtual reality experience.
Following the international success of Symphony, the new production explores one of Maurice Ravel’s best-known masterpieces. Positioned among the musicians, viewers experience the famous orchestral crescendo from within the ensemble while discovering the role of each instrument and the architecture of one of the twentieth century’s most celebrated scores.
Directed by Igor Cortadellas, the production combines live-action 360-degree cinematography with state-of-the-art immersive sound recording, creating an experience that brings together technology, education and artistic excellence. Featuring Josep Pons and the Gran Teatre del Liceu Symphony Orchestra, the project reflects a shared commitment to making classical music accessible to new audiences.
