In November 2022, Josep Pons received the Regió7 Ambassador Award, recognising individuals whose professional achievements have helped promote the Bages region and Central Catalonia beyond their place of origin.
The jury acknowledged Josep Pons’s international career as one of Europe’s leading conductors and his contribution to the prestige of Catalan culture through his work with institutions including the Teatre Lliure Chamber Orchestra, the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, the Spanish National Orchestra and the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
The award also recognised the enduring connection he has maintained with his home region throughout his career. Despite his international activity, Josep Pons has continued to support and represent the cultural identity of Central Catalonia, remaining closely linked to the territory where his artistic vocation first developed.
The Regió7 Ambassador Award joined a series of institutional honours received in recent years, recognising not only an outstanding artistic career but also his role as an ambassador for the cultural life of his homeland.
