The Government of Catalonia honours Josep Pons with the 2025 Creu de Sant Jordi

The Government of Catalonia has awarded the 2025 Creu de Sant Jordi (St. George’s Cross) to Maestro Josep Pons, current Music Director of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, in recognition of his artistic career and his outstanding contribution to the musical and cultural excellence of the country. The proposal was promoted by the Minister of Culture.

With this distinction, the Government acknowledges a career that has played a key role in positioning Catalan music and culture as a source of international prestige and projection.

“Receiving the Creu de Sant Jordi is an immense and deeply moving honour. I feel it as a collective recognition, shared with all those who have made possible the artistic journey of these years,” said Maestro Josep Pons.
