The World of Yesterday reaches Katowice

On 24 May 2026, Josep Pons conducted the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie at the Katowice Kultura Natura Festival, held at the NOSPR concert hall in Katowice.

The programme brought together Ferruccio Busoni’s Berceuse élégiaque, Alban Berg’s Violin Concerto —with Arabella Steinbacher as soloist— and Johannes Brahms’s Fourth Symphony. All three works formed part of the artistic journey developed throughout the season under the title The World of Yesterday, inspired by Stefan Zweig’s celebrated memoir.

The programme offered a musical reflection on European culture in the early twentieth century, a period marked by extraordinary artistic vitality and profound historical transformations that would shape modern Europe.
