The Gran Teatre del Liceu presents, from 22 June to 7 July 2025, the co-production of Antonín Dvořák’s opera Rusalka, under the musical direction of Maestro Josep Pons and stage direction by Christof Loy.
Soprano Asmik Grigorian and tenor Piotr Beczala lead a world-class cast, joining the Liceu Orchestra and Chorus, conducted by Josep Pons.
This staging offers a symbolic and contemporary reading of Rusalka’s drama, focusing on the disconnection between worlds and the individual’s struggle to belong. The set design, conceived by Loy, evokes an aquatic and theatrical space that moves away from the traditional fantastical canon, offering a poetic and introspective perspective.
Regarding this score, Maestro Josep Pons remarks:
“Rusalka is an opera filled with inner, atmospheric silences — silences of water and forest — that the composer has translated into music.”
