The Cercle del Liceu Gold Medal

In April 2026, the Cercle del Liceu awarded its Medal of Honour to Josep Pons in recognition of his artistic career and his contribution to the musical project of the Gran Teatre del Liceu.

One of the institution’s most significant distinctions, the award acknowledges more than a decade of leadership as Music Director of the theatre, as well as a sustained commitment to artistic excellence, the development of the orchestra and the artistic projection of the Liceu.

The distinction comes during the season that marks the conclusion of Josep Pons’s fourteen-year tenure as Music Director of the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
