Manon Lescaut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu

From 17 March to 1 April 2026, the Gran Teatre del Liceu presented a new production of Manon Lescaut, Giacomo Puccini’s third opera and one of the most representative works of the late nineteenth-century Italian repertoire.

Created by Àlex Ollé and originally produced for Oper Frankfurt, the staging relocated the action to contemporary Europe and placed Manon within the context of present-day migration. This modern interpretation engaged with a score that combines Puccini’s characteristic dramatic intensity with a richly coloured orchestral writing.
